Hello everyone, I'm Robbie! I'm a qualified Holistic Reiki Energy Practitioner registered with The UK Reiki Association and Omnes Healing with a weekend Reiki clinic at The Practice Rooms in Broomhill, Sheffield.
When reading this post, it's important to keep in mind that while Reiki symbols are a significant part of the learning, teaching and practice of Reiki, they are not necessary to receive Reiki Energy from your chosen practitioner. Reiki Practitioners often use the symbols before you attend your appointment to affect the energy flow in the spaces they use and charge the objects or tools they use.
Yes, that's right! The symbols themselves don't need to be used to experience Reiki and do not hold any mystical power, but serve as a vital tool to illustrate, influence, and modify the function of Reiki energy.
The most important element of receiving Reiki energy is your intention and the practitioner's energy and experience.
Use the quick links below to explore each Reiki Power Symbol.
Cho Ku Rei - The Power Symbol.
Sei Hei Ki - The Mental Emotional Symbol.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen - The Distance Symbol.
Dai Ko Myo - The Master Symbol.
Raku - The Complete Symbol.
I trust that understanding each power symbol in more detail will enhance your connection to each symbol and your appreciation of Reiki Energy.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or how you use the power symbols in your personal or professional practice of Reiki.
Love and Light,
Robbie

Before our Reiki appointment, I prepare the space by drawing the power symbol, Cho Ku Rei, on each palm. Then, I visualise the symbol clearing the area of negative and stagnant energy to create a protective and peaceful environment. It feels like placing all the power of the Universe in the room with us.
During a Reiki treatment, I may change the direction of the power symbol to determine the strength and flow of energy to either increase or decrease the flow of Reiki when clearing energy blockages, balancing the Chakras, or working over specific areas of the body to create a more concentrated flow of positive energy to boost healing.
When working over the crown Chakra, I like to visualise the Sei Hei Ki symbol to activate the healing energy which brings together the conscious and subconscious minds, helping to calm and balance physical, emotional and mental sensations of stress by releasing negative emotions, like anger, fear and anxiety.
As an added benefit, the Sei Hei Ki symbol can help balance the left and right sides of the brain, unlocking enhanced levels of creativity, intuition, and spiritual growth.
While Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is primarily used for sending distance healing when sending Reiki energy through time and space to promote healing and inner peace, I sometimes use it in practice to help create an energetic connection between different parts of the body by visualizing or drawing the symbol over the affected area.
It also allows someone to connect with their inner self for spiritual growth and self-development.
Dai Ko Myo is the most sacred, powerful, and complex symbol in Reiki practice, which I use to promote spiritual growth and enlightenment and a greater connection with the divine for both myself and my clients.
This sacred symbol also has the power to activate and enhance the other Reiki symbols, amplifying their healing energy to create an especially powerful healing session.
Raku is not a traditional Reiki symbol but rather a Reiki Master symbol that I use at the end of each Reiki session to ground the energy in the room and reconnect to the earth's energy. This promotes a sense of stability and balance while releasing negative and stagnant energy to promote inner peace and emotional balance.
